You may have seen a few excitable tweets from me recently about a certain sample sale. I’m lucky enough to know somebody who works at Net-a-Porter, which means every now and again I’m also lucky enough to get an invite to their friends and family event. The thing about these sales for me is that it’s not necessarily full of the statement bags and straight-off-the-catwalk pieces, it’s the high quality basics that I would ordinarily never fork out for.
Two of my purchases this time around included this black Michael Kors ribbed polo neck and these amazing Proenza Schouler flats. The polo neck is unbelievably comfortable even though I usually overheat in anything other than a vest top. I think I kind of look like a chic burglar-cum-French mime in so much black, but I like that it is very simple overall, and then you get the shock contrast of the white shoes. Those bad boys scuff easy though – I’ve discovered that tube takers of London are not so fussed when I scowl at them for dragging their suitcase across my beautifully clad toes.
My big Winter coat didn’t quite cut it silhouette wise, so I busted out my new quilted navy blue jacket from H&M as it’s cropped cut was a bit more flattering. It’s pretty thin though and it was surprisingly cold at the weekend so maybe I’ll wait until it’s properly Spring to wear it again!
