Right as Rain(coats)

Oh the confusion! I desperately want it to be warm outside again, but I’ve been secretly hoping for rain so I can road test my super shiny new coats from Joules*. I didn’t invest in any new coats last year and instead relied on some old and trusted favourites. However, on a trip to Cornwall in the Summer, I quickly found out that my Uniqlo mac wasn’t actually as waterproof as I had once believed and all I’ve had to protect myself from the elements is a pretty crappy Primark umbrella. But now when it’s me vs the elements, I’m prepped to tackle any storm with floral linings and NEON pink.

I’m wearing:
Coat – Joules
Jumper – T by Alexander Wang
Jeans – Topshop
Boots – Miu Miu

This longline navy parka is 100% waterproof which proved useful on my recent trek to South London for the #UpcyclingWithCurrys event in gale force winds and horizontal rain. I pulled in the hood around my face, plunged my frozen hands into the deep pockets and battled through, arriving a lot warmer than many of the others! I have a total thing for navy coats at the moment (I wore a cropped one from H&M in a recent post) so this totally called out to me. Not only is it snuggly and comfortable but it has a cracking floral lining which makes me feel Spring-like even when it is tipping down.

I’m also now ready for potential rain-ruined picnics, pub gardens and festivals with this packaway waterproof. In the event of a weather based catastrophe, I will be completely visible and may be used as a beacon of hope for those who have ventured out unprepared. I love this coat. It’s very thin, as you’d expect, so I can layer up underneath if necessary, but it’s perfect for folding up and putting in your bag or in the boot of your car for those ‘what if’ moments. Now I just need a festival and some glo-sticks and I’m set!

What are you wearing to fend off the rain?

Thanks to Joules for sending me both coats. As ever, all reviews on this blog are unbiased and truthful.
