I’m wearing: Jumper – Missguided Skirt – Forever 21 Tights – Pretty Polly at ASOS Shoes – Topshop |
I’m no stranger to novelty clothing. I can regularly be seen wearing a giant T-Rex necklace (his name is Bolan), I wore pom-pom shoes to a wedding, and last night I carried a clutch bag in the shape of a Feast ice cream. Christmas jumpers? Easy peasy.
The thing is, when your friend tells you that not only is Christmas novelty wear essential for an upcoming brunch, but that there is a competition for the best jumper, well. That requires some research. When I saw this cropped jumper from Missguided which mixes Christmas AND Beyoncé, it was like Santa had just bumped my name all the way up to the top of the Nice List, treble highlighted it and decorated it with tinsel.
But it’s not that Christmassy. It was lacking a certain level of tack that one would expect from novelty seasonal wear. Enter: Pretty Polly Christmas tights. Subtle, yet awesome. I channelled my inner school girl and rolled up my skirt specifically so the Christmas trees could be seen.
Thank goodness for a loose fitting jumper. I headed to Busaba Eathai in Shoreditch for bottomless prosecco brunch with some old school friends and we ate so much. Not your usual eggs benedict affair, this was obviously had an oriental twist which went down surprisingly well with some bubbles. For £25 you get unlimited prosecco, a light bite and a main. I went for the vegetable spring rolls and the baked eggs with spicy minced beef. It had a small kick to it, but nothing too strong.
We rolled out and onto The Owl and the Pussycat on Redchurch St for some mulled wine and I was in bed by 9.30pm, hangover kicking in and totally shattered. I can’t think of many other ways I’d want to spend a Saturday.
